Paris: more than 30 metro stations closed from 9 a.m. today, Line 2 partly suspended

RATP says that, at the request of the Paris Police Prefecture, more than 30 stations on nine metro lines close from 9 a.m. on Saturday 24 October; Line 2 is suspended between Barbès-Rochechouart and Nation, and 14 bus routes may be diverted around midday.
Why it matters
Paris transport operator RATP said in a traffic bulletin released on Thursday evening that, at the request of the Paris Police Prefecture and for security reasons, numerous metro stations would close from 9 a.m. on Saturday 24 October, affecting nine lines and more than 30 stations. At closed stations, trains pass through without stopping and connections are unavailable; stations will reopen with authorization from the Police Prefecture, and no timetable has been announced.
Full report
On Line 2, service is suspended on Saturday from 9 a.m. between Barbès-Rochechouart and Nation. That includes the section already closed for renovation between Barbès-Rochechouart and Père-Lachaise, and the stations La Chapelle, Stalingrad, Jaurès, Colonel Fabien, Belleville, Couronnes and Ménilmontant are closed until Sunday evening.
On Line 12, no trains run between Madeleine and Notre-Dame-des-Champs; on Line 6, service is suspended between Kléber and Charles de Gaulle-Étoile. The closures form a protective perimeter around the Champs-Élysées and the Élysée Palace (8th arrondissement), the National Assembly and government ministries (7th), the Senate and the Latin Quarter (5th and 6th), and the area around Place de la Nation.
For buses, RATP lists 14 routes that may be diverted or shortened around midday on Saturday: 21, 24, 29, 46, 56, 57, 64, 67, 77, 86, 87, 109, 202 and 215. RATP has not specified which directions, which stops will not be served, or when the measures will end, so passengers should check RATP live updates before travelling.
On roads, prefectural order no. 2026-01420 of 23 October bans all vehicles on Saturday 24 October from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on streets around the National Assembly: Rue de l’Université between Rue de Constantine and Rue de Courty, Rue Aristide-Briand, Rue de Lille between Boulevard Saint-Germain and Rue Aristide-Briand, and Place du Palais-Bourbon. Priority emergency vehicles are exempt, and the authorities on site may bring the restrictions forward, extend or lift them depending on the situation.
Sortiraparis reports a planned march on Saturday from Place de la Bastille to Place de la Nation, departing at 2 p.m., while noting that the procession route remains disputed between the authorities and the organizers. Travellers should rely on RATP and prefecture updates issued during the day.
