Paris to close 25 metro stations on Oct 17 amid cost-of-living protests

RATP announced that, at the request of the Paris police prefect, 25 metro stations will close on Saturday Oct 17 during cost-of-living protests: nine groups from 8 a.m., five more from noon.
Why it matters
Oct 17 is the first day of France's Toussaint school holidays, with 200 to 300 cost-of-living demonstrations expected nationwide and 20,000 to 40,000 people on the streets of Paris. RATP published the large-scale station closure plan a day ahead — anyone traveling in Paris should plan an alternate route. (We previously covered the protest route ban for the same day; this story focuses on metro disruption.)
Closure schedule
Closed from 8 a.m.: Étoile (lines 1, 2, 6 and RER A), Champs-Élysées-Clemenceau (1, 13), Concorde (1, 8, 12), Opéra (3, 7, 8), Tuileries (1), Pyramides (7, 14), Madeleine (8, 12, 14), Assemblée nationale (12), Miromesnil (9, 13).
Five more from noon: Anvers (2), Blanche (2), Pigalle (2, 12), Bastille (1, 5, 8), Bourse (3). Trains will run through closed stations without stopping and connections are not guaranteed; reopening requires the police prefect's approval.
Background
The mobilization is driven by yellow vests, high-school students, student unions and the CGT over the rising cost of living. Paris police had already banned a student march route from Place de la République to Place de la Concorde on Oct 17.
