Paris Pride March Returns Saturday with New Route from Place d'Italie to Bastille

· N GLOBE

The 49th Paris Pride March, postponed from June due to the heatwave, returns this Saturday, Oct 3, with a new route from Place d'Italie to Bastille and a slogan aimed at the 2027 presidential election.

Why it matters

The Paris Pride March is one of the largest LGBT demonstrations in Europe. This year's edition — postponed from June because of the summer heatwave — returns this Saturday with a brand-new, shorter route, and its slogan deliberately targets the 2027 presidential election.

Full report

The 49th Paris–Île-de-France Pride March, organised by Inter-LGBT, will take place on Saturday, Oct 3. Originally scheduled for June 27, it was cancelled because of the heatwave and rescheduled. Participants gather at 12:30 at Place d'Italie in the 13th arrondissement for speeches, with the march setting off at 13:00 and expected to reach Place de la Bastille in the evening, followed by a free podium concert running until around 22:00–23:00.

The new route, announced by the organisers on Sept 24, runs: Place d'Italie → Avenue des Gobelins → Rue Claude-Bernard → Rue Gay-Lussac → Boulevard Saint-Michel → Boulevard du Palais → Boulevard de Sébastopol → Rue de Rivoli → Rue Saint-Antoine → Place de la Bastille. It is shorter than the originally planned route to Place de la République.

This year's slogan is "2027 : Solidarité, diversité, LGBT+ & allié-es", putting LGBT rights at the centre of debate ahead of the 2027 presidential election. Organisers say 120 groups are taking part, with more than 300 volunteers. Participation is open to all with no registration required.
