Samsung's Exynos 2700 beats Qualcomm's flagship chip in internal tests ahead of Galaxy S27

· N GLOBE

South Korean media reported October 25 that Samsung's Exynos 2700 leads Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 by about 20% in multicore and 20% in peak gaming graphics in internal tests — Samsung's own numbers, not independent benchmarks.

Why it matters

Samsung's in-house phone chip may be about to turn a corner for the first time in years: according to South Korean media on October 25, the Exynos 2700, prepared for next year's Galaxy S27 series, beat Qualcomm's latest flagship chip across the board in Samsung's internal tests. If production phones hold that lead, buying an Exynos Galaxy would no longer feel like a downgrade.

Full report

According to South Korea's Financial News on October 25, Samsung recently ran internal benchmarks against a Xiaomi 18 Pro Max powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6: the Exynos 2700 scored around 13,000 in Geekbench 6.5 multicore against roughly 11,000 for Qualcomm's flagship, a lead of about 20%; in Geekbench 7.0 multicore the lead was about 15%.

Against the lower-tier Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 (in the Xiaomi 18 Pro), the Exynos 2700's lead widened to about 44% in Geekbench 6.5 and 36% in Geekbench 7.0. On graphics, peak performance in demanding games was about 20% higher, and baseline graphics workloads in popular large 3D games were about 5% higher. Korean media credit the second-generation 2-nanometer process and thermal management for the turnaround.

The caveat matters: these are Samsung's own internal tests, not independent benchmarks, and final clock speeds, cooling and software tuning can all shift the numbers on production phones. Previous Exynos generations have disappointed fans before, so the real test comes when the S27 ships early next year. The previous Exynos 2600 powers select Galaxy S26 models and the Galaxy Z Flip8.
