Samsung refreshes entry-level Galaxy A line: A08 on sale now, A18 due in December, with six generations of OS upgrades

Samsung Electronics on October 28 announced its latest entry-level Galaxy A smartphones: the Galaxy A08 is available now on Samsung's website and at authorised stores in the Philippines, while the Galaxy A18 will arrive there in December. The company frames the refresh around everyday usability, durability and essential AI features rather than flagship specifications.

Prices and variants

In the Philippines, the Galaxy A08 costs P11,190 for the 4GB memory + 64GB storage variant and P13,090 for the 4GB + 128GB model, in Dark Blue, Silver and Green; cash purchases in store until November 30 carry a discount of up to P1,200. The Galaxy A18, due in December, comes in Black, Silver and Light Blue; its price was not listed in the announcement covered here.

Durability and update promise

Both phones carry IP64-rated protection against dust and water splashes and are supported by up to six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates — a long support window for this tier. Security is handled by Samsung Knox, including Knox Vault for hardware-based protection of sensitive information. The Galaxy A18 has a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display and a Helio G99+ processor.

AI features move down the range

Samsung says both models include AI features such as enhanced Circle to Search, a new Find the Look feature that can search for an entire outfit or identify music playing nearby, and multiple AI agents that work across Samsung, Google and selected third-party apps. Kristine Go, head of Mobile Experience for Samsung Electronics Philippines, said the A18 focuses on everyday essentials with a well-rounded experience, while the A08 offers reliability and long-lasting battery life to keep users connected and productive.
