Singapore moves COVID-19 jabs into national immunisation schedules from Oct 12

Singapore's health ministry says COVID-19 vaccination joins the national childhood and adult immunisation schedules, with updated XFG vaccines at 600+ GP clinics and full subsidies for eligible residents.

Why it matters

Singapore's Ministry of Health (MOH) and Communicable Diseases Agency announced that from October 12, 2026, COVID-19 vaccination is incorporated into the National Childhood Immunisation Schedule (NCIS) and the National Adult Immunisation Schedule (NAIS). The move shifts COVID-19 jabs from the pandemic-era National Vaccination Programme, in place since 2020, into routine care. Authorities say COVID-19 will keep circulating and poses a severe-disease risk especially for older and medically vulnerable people, so the vaccine must stay accessible and affordable.

Full report

The recommended groups are people aged 60 and above, medically vulnerable individuals aged 6 months and above, and residents of aged care facilities. Healthcare workers and those living or working with medically vulnerable people are also encouraged to be vaccinated; others aged 6 months and above may choose to do so after consulting a doctor.

Updated XFG vaccines — Moderna/Spikevax and Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty — roll out at more than 600 GP clinics, all polyclinics and Mobile Vaccination Team sites. Pfizer is available from age 12 from Oct 12 and Moderna from 6 months; Pfizer for children aged 6 months to 11 years starts November 2. First-time recipients aged 6 months to 4 years need two doses eight weeks apart; those 5 and older need one dose.

The jab remains fully subsidised for Singapore citizens, permanent residents, long-term pass holders and certain other pass holders at participating clinics until further review, and cannot be claimed under MediSave 500/700. MOH advises calling the clinic to confirm vaccine availability before visiting.
