Singapore Post launches Asia's first digital stamp

Marking World Post Day, SingPost starts a public trial letting users buy a postage code in its app, hand-write it on the envelope and post domestic mail with no physical stamp.
Why it matters
Asia's first app-integrated postage code system goes into public trial in Singapore today: no more trips to the post office or vending machines for stamps — buy on your phone, write the code on the envelope, and post.
Full report
Singapore Post (SingPost) today (October 8, World Post Day) commenced the public trial of Asia's first Digital Stamp. Senders buy postage in the SingPost mobile app and instantly receive a unique code, write it in dark blue or black ink in the top-right corner of the envelope where a stamp would go, and drop the letter into any posting box, post office, or the "Return Mail" slot at residential letterbox nests.
Digital Stamps cover basic domestic mail: letters, postcards and printed paper items in a paper envelope. A Standard Regular stamp costs S$0.62 and a Standard Large stamp S$0.90, with a minimum purchase of five per denomination and 24 months' validity.
Introductory trial rates let registered users buy a set of five Standard Regular stamps for S$1 (usual price S$3.10) and five Standard Large stamps for S$1.50 (usual price S$4.50), one promotional set of each per customer. Promotional stamps are valid for posting through 6 April 2027.
The trial runs until 6 April 2027, with SingPost collecting public feedback through an in-app survey to refine the experience, optimise OCR scanning accuracy and fine-tune workflows. From 8 to 11 October, SingPost hosts a free public roadshow at the SingPost Centre atrium explaining how Digital Stamps work.
