Singapore haze: NEA forecasts unhealthy PSI Monday, Firefly cancels flights, HPB scraps outdoor activities for third day

Singapore's NEA forecast the 24-hour PSI would stay in the unhealthy range over the next 24 hours; Monday morning readings were 105 to 147 across all five regions. Firefly cancelled Subang–Seletar flights and the Health Promotion Board cancelled outdoor activities for a third straight day.
Why it matters
Haze has blanketed Singapore for days. With the NEA forecasting unhealthy air quality into Monday, flight cancellations and suspended outdoor activities directly affect residents' travel and daily plans; it is the third consecutive day HPB has scrapped outdoor activities.
Full report
Singapore's National Environment Agency (NEA) said in its daily advisory issued on the evening of Oct 11 that the 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) was forecast to stay in the unhealthy range over the next 24 hours. At 7am Monday, the 24-hour PSI stood at 105 in the north, 118 in the south, 135 in the east, 147 in the west and 147 in the central region — all in the unhealthy band (101–200).
NEA said smoke haze from southern Sumatra and West Kalimantan was drifting toward Singapore. While showers were forecast over Singapore and parts of the surrounding region, dry conditions were expected to continue over parts of southern Sumatra and Kalimantan, and under prevailing south-easterly or southerly winds, haze may continue to drift toward Singapore.
The haze disrupted air travel: Malaysian budget airline Firefly cancelled flights between Subang (Kuala Lumpur) and Seletar (Singapore) over Oct 10–12, with all six daily return flights affected over the three days. Affected passengers are being reallocated to Malaysia Airlines flights between Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Changi Airport.
The Health Promotion Board (HPB) announced on the evening of Oct 11 that all its outdoor activities scheduled for Monday, Oct 12, were cancelled, with indoor activities proceeding — the third consecutive day of cancellations (Oct 10–12). HPB advised participants to check the Healthy 365 app for updated arrangements.
Background: the PSI peaked for 2026 on Oct 9, reaching 192 in the central region between 5pm and 8pm. The government's haze task force announced measures on Oct 9 should the PSI exceed 200 and enter the very unhealthy range.
