According to The Straits Times and Berita Harian, all MOE kindergartens in Singapore will offer full-day programmes by 2030, with pilots in 2027 at Rivervale and West View; learning and care will come under one provider, while the half-day option will be retained.

SINGAPORE — All MOE kindergartens in Singapore will provide full-day programmes by 2030, according to The Straits Times and Berita Harian. The plan starts with pilots in 2027 at Rivervale and West View kindergartens, before being rolled out to all MOE kindergartens.

One provider for learning and care

Under the full-day model, learning and care will come under a single provider, so parents will no longer need a separate arrangement for afternoon care. Reports add that the half-day option will be retained for families who prefer it. For dual-income families, the change could simplify drop-off and childcare arrangements; for kindergartens, it will require preparation in staffing, space and curriculum continuity.

What to watch

Attention now turns to how the two 2027 pilots operate — including places, fees and curriculum details — and how the full roll-out timetable lines up with the expansion of existing kindergartens. Details not yet announced by the Ministry of Education remain to be confirmed officially.
