The two countries held a cross-border field training exercise for the Johor Bahru–Singapore Rapid Transit System Link on 27 October, with a joint closing ceremony on 28 October at the RTS Wadi Hana Depot in Johor Bahru, testing joint firefighting, medical triage, casualty evacuation and cross-border coordination.

Malaysia and Singapore have reaffirmed their shared commitment to safeguarding the security and resilience of the Johor Bahru–Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link, following a successful cross-border joint exercise field training on 27 October 2026 and a joint closing ceremony on 28 October at the RTS Wadi Hana Depot in Johor Bahru.

Closing ceremony and what was tested

The ceremony was co-officiated by Malaysia's Minister of Home Affairs, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution bin Ismail, and Singapore's Second Minister for Foreign Affairs and Second Minister for Home Affairs, Sim Ann. The exercise tested operational readiness and inter-agency coordination and interoperability in the joint management of a complex emergency scenario on an RTS Link train and tracks, including joint firefighting operations, medical triage and casualty evacuation, and coordinated cross-border emergency response.

Why the RTS Link matters

The RTS Link is an important milestone in Malaysia–Singapore connectivity, strengthening cross-border mobility and supporting closer economic, social and people-to-people ties. With capacity to serve up to 10,000 passengers per hour per direction, ensuring the safety and security of RTS Link passengers, infrastructure and operations is a shared priority for both countries.
