Singapore's Shannon Tan Wins Historic Asian Games Golf Bronze

The 22-year-old finished at 14-under 266 in Nagoya to become the first Singaporean golfer to win an Asian Games medal.
Why it matters
Shannon Tan shot a final-round 68 (two under par) at the Kasugai Country Club East Course to finish at 14-under 266, tied for second with China's Yin Ruoning. After losing the silver-medal playoff on the first extra hole, she took bronze — a historic breakthrough, as no Singaporean golfer had ever stood on an Asian Games podium before.
Full report
The 22-year-old world No. 59, who led after the first two rounds, began the final day three strokes behind overnight leader Pranavi Sharath Urs of India. Tan strung together four birdies in five holes on the back nine to pull within one stroke of the lead, but Urs held her nerve to win India's first Asian Games women's individual golf gold at 15-under 265.
In the silver-medal playoff, China's world No. 6 Yin Ruoning — the 2023 Women's PGA Championship winner — made par on the first hole while Tan's par putt lipped out. In the team event, Singapore finished fourth, level with South Korea and Thailand; China took gold, India silver and Chinese Taipei bronze.
Tan turned professional in 2024 and became the first Singaporean golfer to compete at the Olympic Games that same year. In 2025 she won two Ladies European Tour titles and the LET Order of Merit, and this season has recorded multiple top-10 finishes, including a joint sixth at the Women's British Open in August.
