Three new MRT stations in eastern Singapore to open on December 26, cutting some trips by 25 minutes

Three new MRT stations in eastern Singapore — Bedok South, Sungei Bedok and Xilin — will open on December 26, 2026, with Sungei Bedok linking the Thomson-East Coast Line and the Downtown Line and cutting some journeys by up to 25 minutes; Transport Minister Jeffrey Siow announced the date on November 4.
Three new MRT stations in eastern Singapore will open on Saturday, December 26, 2026: Bedok South and Sungei Bedok on the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL), and Xilin on the Downtown Line (DTL). Transport Minister Jeffrey Siow announced the date on November 4 at Singapore Urban Mobility Week, saying Sungei Bedok station will link the TEL and the DTL, cutting some journeys by up to 25 minutes. Three stations linking two lines; 4.3 km of new track
Bedok South (TE30) and Sungei Bedok (TE31) are part of TEL Stage 5, while Xilin (DT36) is part of the Downtown Line Stage 3 extension; Sungei Bedok is also DTL station DT37, an interchange between the two lines in the east. The three stations add about 4.3 kilometres of track.
More than 240,000 households benefit; 25 minutes saved to Changi
The Land Transport Authority said that once the stations open, more than 240,000 households will be within a 10-minute walk of a TEL station. One of the biggest time savings is the trip from Havelock to Changi Business Park, which will fall from about 70 minutes to 45 minutes. Residents in the east will have easier journeys to the city centre and the Changi area.
