Sydney Rabbitohs Officially Sign Payne Haas for 2027–2029
The South Sydney Rabbitohs have signed 26-year-old prop Payne Haas for the 2027 and 2028 seasons with a 2029 option; David Fifita joins for 2026–2027 and captain Cameron Murray extends to end-2028.
Why it matters
Haas is one of the NRL's premier front-rowers, with 142 games for the Broncos since his 2018 debut and a 2025 premiership title. The Broncos waived the contract cooling-off period and the new deal is registered with the NRL, making the move official; he will join the club for the 2027 pre-season.
A big recruitment day
The club also announced the signing of forward David Fifita for the 2026–2027 seasons and a contract extension for captain Cameron Murray until the end of 2028. Head of recruitment Mark Ellison called the Haas signing "a coup for the Club", describing him as "one of, if not the best player on the planet today".
