Why it matters

Advance voting for Toronto's 2026 municipal election starts tomorrow (Tuesday, October 6) and runs for six straight days through Sunday, October 11, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily at 50 voting places across the city (two in each of the 25 wards). About 2.14 million eligible voters will elect a mayor, 25 councillors and school board trustees.

What voters need to know

Voters must cast their ballot in the ward where they live and can find their voting place at toronto.ca/Elections. Bring your voter information card (VIC) and ID showing your name and qualifying Toronto address (photo ID not required). The deadline to add or update voters' list information online is 7 p.m. on October 11. Election day is Monday, October 26, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., with more than 1,350 voting places. The mail-in request deadline has passed (September 24); completed mail-in packages must reach Toronto Elections by noon on October 14.

Election by the numbers

The City Clerk has certified 361 candidates: 53 for mayor, 190 for councillor and 118 for school board trustee; close to 10,000 election workers are staffing the vote. Kids Vote Weekend runs October 10–11, when under-18s can vote for Toronto's 2027 Tree of the Year (candidates: Basswood, Paper Birch, Red Oak, Sugar Maple, White Pine). Unofficial results will be posted at toronto.ca/election-results after voting places close on election night.
