Toronto Lakeshore West: no GO trains between Aldershot and Union this weekend, replacement buses stop at four stations only

· N GLOBE

GO Transit's Lakeshore West line has no train service between Aldershot GO and Union Station on October 24-25 for planned track construction; replacement buses run between West Harbour GO and the Union Station Bus Terminal, stopping only at Aldershot, Burlington, Oakville and Clarkson, with six stations unserved and Long Branch station closed October 23-26.

Why it matters

Anyone travelling on the Lakeshore West line in and out of Toronto this weekend will find trains running only as far as Aldershot, with buses covering the rest of the way; several mid-line stations have no service at all, so trips need extra time, and riders near Exhibition can take the TTC 509 streetcar east to Union instead.

Full report

GO Transit's Lakeshore West construction page lists Saturday, October 24 and Sunday, October 25 as planned line construction days. On the affected stretch, between Aldershot GO and Union Station, there is no train service on either day; trains run only between Niagara Falls GO and Aldershot GO.

Replacement GO buses run between West Harbour GO and the Union Station Bus Terminal, stopping only at Aldershot, Burlington, Oakville and Clarkson. There is no service at Appleby, Bronte, Port Credit, Long Branch, Mimico or Exhibition, and Long Branch station is closed from October 23 to 26. GO advises riders from Exhibition to take the TTC 509 streetcar eastbound to Union.

GO Transit says the work supports faster, more frequent Lakeshore West service in future; the Lakeshore West expansion plan includes 15-minute-or-better service all day between Toronto and Burlington, plus hourly service to and from Hamilton. Riders should check GO's trip planner before travelling, as work may be adjusted, rescheduled or extended for weather or unforeseen circumstances.
