Full report
The Canada Border Services Agency announced Oct 8 that its Ontario Firearms Smuggling Enforcement Team arrested 47-year-old Nasser Gholami of Brampton on multiple firearm-related charges.
On July 23, 2026, CBSA officers intercepted a parcel from the United States at a Mississauga commercial operations facility and seized two complete firearms suppressors. Investigators identified Gholami as the suspected recipient. On Sept 24, CBSA executed a search warrant at his Brampton home, seizing three non-restricted firearms, one prohibited suppressor installed on a firearm, digital devices and ammunition.
Charges include smuggling prohibited devices (Customs Act s.159(1)), unauthorized import of a prohibited device (Criminal Code s.103(1)(a)), unauthorized possession of a prohibited device (s.92(2)) and unsafe display of non-restricted firearms (s.86(2)). He is scheduled to appear in Brampton court on Nov 5, 2026.
A Toronto police spokesperson confirmed to CP24 that Gholami is a 7-year TPS officer, now suspended with pay; under the Community Safety and Policing Act, the suspension becomes unpaid after the 60-day mandatory period. Police say the alleged conduct is unrelated to his duties.
