US chipmaker AMD reported fiscal third-quarter 2026 results on November 3: revenue of $13.377 billion, up 45% from a year earlier and a single-quarter record, while data-centre revenue rose 97% to $8.546 billion — nearly two-thirds of total sales — on continued demand for AI infrastructure. Data centre nearly doubles on Instinct and EPYC
Growth in the data-centre segment was driven by Instinct AI accelerators and EPYC server processors, including the newly shipping Instinct MI450 Series GPUs. Segment operating income rose to $2.882 billion from $1.074 billion a year earlier, and the segment's share of total revenue climbed to 64% from 47% a year ago. AMD said Anthropic, Meta, Microsoft, OpenAI and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure are already running models and workloads on its first Helios rack-scale systems, which pair Instinct MI450 Series GPUs with 6th Gen EPYC 'Venice' CPUs. The company also introduced Helion, a rack-scale reference architecture, and ROCm 10 software.
Profit and market reaction
On a GAAP basis, third-quarter net income was $2.4 billion, or $1.46 per diluted share; non-GAAP earnings per share were $2.09, up 74% from a year earlier. The results beat market expectations: LSEG estimates cited in reports were $13.09 billion in revenue and $1.95 in adjusted earnings per share. AMD shares rose in extended trading on November 3.
Q4 guidance of about $17 billion; 2027 growth seen above 80%
AMD forecast fourth-quarter revenue of about $17 billion, plus or minus 3%, implying growth of about 66% from a year earlier and about 27% from the third quarter at the midpoint — above the roughly $16.3 billion market expectation — with non-GAAP gross margin of about 55%. CEO Lisa Su told the earnings call that, based on current visibility, the company expects 2027 revenue to grow by more than 80%, with server revenue roughly doubling and data-centre AI growth significantly exceeding a doubling. Guidance and outlook are management estimates based on current visibility, not completed sales, and actual results may differ.
