Jay-Z has been confirmed as the headliner of the 2027 Super Bowl halftime show; the news was announced during halftime of the Dallas Cowboys vs Philadelphia Eagles Monday Night Football game on Oct. 26, with the NFL commissioner and Apple Music praising his impact on the show.

Jay-Z has been confirmed to headline the halftime show at the 2027 Super Bowl (Super Bowl LXI). The news was announced during halftime of the Dallas Cowboys vs Philadelphia Eagles game on Monday Night Football on Oct. 26, and Apple Music followed on Oct. 27 with the post: 'GOAT's out of the bag.'

In his own words

The 56-year-old rapper said in a statement, via Variety: 'From Reasonable Doubt to standing on the Super Bowl Halftime stage, this has been a journey. Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world's biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true.'

From choosing acts to taking the stage

For several years Jay-Z has been in charge of choosing the acts for the Super Bowl halftime show, and rumours that he had chosen himself for the next one have now proved true. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement that when the league first reached an agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, he had just one request: that Jay-Z take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him.

Oliver Schusser, Apple's Vice President of Music and International Content, added that Jay-Z's impact on global music culture is 'as profound as it is undeniable', and that Apple was thrilled he will be taking the stage himself.

No set list or stage design for the 2027 show has been announced in these reports; details are still to come from the organisers.
