According to Reuters, the storm knocked out power to more than 100,000 homes and businesses at one point on Saturday; nearly 80,000 customers were still without electricity early Sunday, with New York state hardest hit (over 31,000 customers). Several Jersey Shore communities issued voluntary evacuation notices. FlightAware data showed 445 flights canceled and more than 3,000 delayed on Saturday, with over 170 more cancellations at Boston Logan on Sunday alone; JetBlue, United and American Airlines waived change fees for Northeast flights.
Saturday's Global Citizen Festival in Manhattan's Central Park was canceled, and AC/DC's concert at New Jersey's MetLife Stadium was postponed to October 2. The National Weather Service says heavy rain, strong wind gusts and dangerous rip currents will continue through Monday, keeping tens of millions of residents in the storm's path.
