Federal agents raid Rep. Ilhan Omar's DC-area home in immigration paperwork probe

DOJ confirmed Homeland Security Investigations executed a court-authorized search warrant Monday morning in the DC area.
Why it matters
Federal agents raided the Washington, D.C.-area home of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) early Monday, October 12, in a criminal fraud investigation into her immigration paperwork. The Department of Justice later confirmed the raid, describing it as a judicially authorized operation. It comes just weeks after Border Czar Tom Homan revealed Omar was under an ongoing criminal investigation.
What we know
Homeland Security Investigations, a division of the Department of Homeland Security, carried out the raid, Fox News reported, citing a person familiar with the matter. "Today in the Washington, D.C. area, Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant secured by the Department of Justice," a DOJ spokesperson told CNBC. Two sources told the New York Post the investigation centers on Omar's immigration documents, which were filled out by her late father when she was a child. Omar, born in Somalia and brought to the U.S. as a child, became a U.S. citizen in 2000 at age 17. No charges have been announced; the investigation is ongoing.
