Robinhood announces weekend trading, AI trading agents, crypto perpetual futures and earnings prediction markets at its 2026 HOOD Summit.

Why it matters

Robinhood unveiled its most ambitious product push yet — weekend stock trading, AI trading assistants built on OpenAI and Anthropic models, crypto perpetual futures and earnings prediction markets — signaling its shift from beginner-friendly app to full-spectrum trading platform for active traders.

Full report

The announcements came Tuesday at the 2026 HOOD Summit in Houston, where CEO Vlad Tenev presented the new lineup. Robinhood said weekend trading for a curated list of U.S. stocks and ETFs is coming early next year, pending regulatory review. It will extend the company's 24 Hour Market, which already runs from Sunday at 8 p.m. ET through Friday at 8 p.m. ET, and will run on Bruce ATS, an alternative trading system operated by Bruce Markets.

The headline feature is Robinhood Agents: AI assistants that let customers pick models from OpenAI or Anthropic to research markets, build a strategy and trade within limits the customer sets. The agent can only use funds in a dedicated agentic trading account, cannot borrow on margin at launch, and manual approval of each trade is on by default. A future capability called "Loops" will let users set standing instructions, and third-party AI agents will also be allowed. Robinhood said more than 150,000 agentic accounts have been created since it opened its trading infrastructure to outside AI agents earlier this year.

For crypto traders, Robinhood is launching perpetual futures for eligible U.S. users through Robinhood Derivatives and Bitstamp, covering bitcoin and ether with leverage of up to 10x. It is also adding extended options hours, a new social layer, and — via a partnership with derivatives exchange Cboe — prediction markets that let retail traders wager on whether companies beat earnings estimates or hit revenue targets.

"Our focus this year is making Robinhood the best place for active traders by giving them the tools that are typically reserved for hedge funds, quants and a lot of big active trading firms," Abhishek Fatehpuria, vice president of product management, told Reuters. Shares of Robinhood (HOOD) rose more than 2% in overnight trading after the announcements. Before the summit, Deutsche Bank analyst Brian Bedell lowered his price target on the stock to $134 from $138 while maintaining a 'Buy' rating.
