The storm formed on Sept 23, 2026 and has been described by forecasters as an unusually rare high-intensity early-season nor'easter, drawing comparisons to Hurricane Sandy and Hurricane Irene.
Atlantic City, New Jersey recorded its highest water level since Superstorm Sandy struck in 2012. The National Weather Service forecast the low-pressure system would stall near the coast Sunday night and drift slowly eastward on Monday while weakening.
