The S&P 500 gained 44.98 points (0.58%) to close at 7,818.93; the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 253.38 points (0.49%) to 51,521.28; and the Nasdaq Composite climbed 122.48 points (0.45%) to 27,599.79. The small-cap Russell 2000 fell 0.59%, underscoring the split between large and small caps. The 10-year Treasury yield eased to 5.28% from 5.31%, supporting equities.
In single stocks, Constellation Energy surged after announcing a long-term nuclear power supply deal with Alphabet to power AI data centers; infusion-services provider Option Care Health soared after McKesson and private-equity firm CD&R made a roughly US$5.8 billion takeover offer.
