AI chip startup Tenstorrent raises $1.5 billion at $6.2 billion valuation

Tenstorrent said it raised $1.5 billion in a late-stage round valuing it at $6.2 billion post-money, more than doubling its December 2024 valuation; funds will scale Galaxy AI server production.
Why it matters
This is one of the largest private AI-chip financings this year, showing capital is still betting on non-Nvidia AI chip routes. Tenstorrent uses the open-source RISC-V architecture, avoiding Arm licensing fees, and is seen as a bid to reduce dependence on proprietary chip ecosystems.
