US President Donald Trump clashed with MS NOW White House correspondent Akayla Gardner on the White House south lawn Saturday, before departing for Tennessee to attend a college football game. Gardner asked whether he wanted only outlets that 'support' him in the White House press pool. Trump replied: 'No, no, no. I want real news, not fake news — like you.' Gardner pressed: 'Do you not want tough questions?' Trump raised his index finger and said: 'Be quiet. What I don't like is fake news. And they're fake news.'
The exchange was not broadcast live because CNN had been removed as the designated pool television crew; the White House later posted the clip on social media. The dispute began last week when the White House revoked the credentials of CNN, MS NOW and Politico, which Trump said was a response to overly negative coverage. Federal Judge Timothy Kelly ordered the outlets' access temporarily restored on Thursday, but on Friday night aides still blocked MS NOW and CNN reporters from covering the Xi Jinping state dinner; on Saturday CNN was again barred from the Air Force One travel pool, replaced by LindellTV.
The same day, Trump dismissed former President Barack Obama's claim that the world would be better if women ran governments for two years as 'ridiculous,' while adding that he loves women.
