WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump hosted a reception at the White House on Wednesday to mark Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans.
During the event, Trump praised Hispanic Americans as hardworking, smart and energetic, and highlighted the substantial support he received from the Hispanic community during his presidential campaigns.
In an official message, Trump said Hispanic Americans have "shaped the fabric of our culture, strengthened our most cherished institutions, and advanced the promise of the American Dream." He pointed to their service in the military, law enforcement, health care, government and other fields, saying their work has made the nation "stronger, wealthier, and prouder with each passing generation."
