Trump headlines a Trump 47 Committee midterm rally in Grand Island, Nebraska today at 6 p.m. CDT in support of Senator Pete Ricketts, with a Democratic counter-rally planned outside.

Why it matters

With exactly one month to go before the November 3 midterm elections, President Trump is campaigning in ruby-red Nebraska, where Senator Pete Ricketts is facing a tougher-than-expected challenge from independent Dan Osborn. The visit is Trump's first to Nebraska in his second term and continues a week-long midterm travel blitz that included Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama and Ohio.

Full report

The Trump 47 Committee is hosting a midterm rally at the Pinnacle Bank Expo Center at Fonner Park in Grand Island, Nebraska, on Monday, October 5. Doors open at 2:30 p.m. CDT, the program begins at 4:30 p.m., and the president is scheduled to deliver remarks at 6 p.m. Attendees must register in advance through the GOP website, with a maximum of four tickets per signup.

According to KCAU, the rally is being held in support of Republican Senator Pete Ricketts, who was appointed to the seat by Governor Jim Pillen in 2023 and is now running for his first full term against independent candidate Dan Osborn. KFOR reports both Ricketts and Pillen are in tight races.

A counter-protest, billed as the nonviolent "Rally for Democracy," is scheduled from 2:30 to 6 p.m. on the sidewalk across from the west entrance to Fonner Park, sponsored by the Nebraska Democratic Party, the Hall County Democratic Party and other groups, according to KQKY. The White House daily guidance confirms the president's travel to Grand Island, with a 6 p.m. remarks slot at the Expo Center.
