Trump Rallies in Vandalia, Ohio for Husted and Ramaswamy: "Pretend That I'm Running"

Trump campaigned in Vandalia, Ohio on Oct. 3 for Sen. Jon Husted and gubernatorial nominee Vivek Ramaswamy, urging supporters to vote as if his own name were on the ballot.
Why it matters
With one month to go until the Nov. 3 midterms, Ohio's Senate race is a top battleground: incumbent Sen. Jon Husted faces former Sen. Sherrod Brown, while Republican Vivek Ramaswamy faces Democrat Amy Acton for governor. Trump's personal appearance shows how heavily Republicans are investing in holding their congressional majorities.

The rally took place Saturday night at the Butler-Vandalia Student Activity Center (Butler High School) in Vandalia, Ohio. "Just pretend that I'm running," Trump told the crowd. "When I run, we win." He declared Ohio "booming" under his trade and tariff policies and defended the expansion of data centers in the state, saying they should cover the costs of their power demands — framing it as part of America's competition with China.
Husted holds the Senate seat he was appointed to in 2025 after JD Vance became vice president. The Ohio stop was Trump's third rally in as many nights, following events in Durant, Oklahoma and Mobile, Alabama.
