British Columbia's snap provincial election reaches final voting day on Saturday, with polls open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Pacific time; 47 of the legislature's 93 seats are needed for a majority.

Why it matters

This is a snap election called two years early: Premier David Eby dissolved the legislature on Sept. 22. Final polls put the Conservatives ahead of the NDP, with the Greens' share potentially deciding who governs, making turnout in big cities like Vancouver critical.

Preliminary results will follow after polls close, with the final count, including absentee and mail-in ballots, scheduled for Nov. 6-10 and the writs to be returned Nov. 18.
