IIO investigating death at Vancouver's North Arm Bridge, seeks witnesses

The Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO) says that shortly before 2 p.m. on September 26, officers responded to a call about a man outside the railing of the pedestrian section of the North Arm Bridge, which crosses the Fraser River and connects the Canada Line between Vancouver and Richmond.
Officers from the Vancouver Police Department and Metro Vancouver Transit Police arrived and attempted to speak with the man, but he later jumped from the bridge, according to the IIO. The Canadian Coast Guard was unable to locate him, and he is presumed deceased.
The IIO, which investigates all officer-involved incidents resulting in serious harm or death in B.C., has commenced an investigation (case 2026-243) and is asking any witnesses to contact its witness line toll-free at 1-855-446-8477 or via the contact form on the iiobc.ca website.
