Federal Housing and Infrastructure Minister Gregor Robertson will be in Vancouver on Sunday morning (November 8) to highlight the federal Budget 2026 investments in homelessness and housing. The federal government says the plan is worth nearly $30 billion and aims to end chronic homelessness within 10 years.

The key numbers in the 10-year plan
According to the federal government, which set out the plan in Calgary on November 6, it includes $6.5 billion to renew and strengthen the Reaching Home initiative, including support for veterans experiencing homelessness; $5.5 billion to renew the Canada Housing Benefit; and $10 billion through Build Canada Homes to deliver about 25,000 supportive and transitional homes. The government says the plan is built around help, housing and health.
Robertson, visiting the Attainable Homes Calgary Corporation project on November 6, called the plan a major next step in ending homelessness; Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne also issued a statement in support. The CBC reported that the plan also includes a $1-billion partnership with Winnipeg to build 2,000 supportive housing units and an addictions and mental health facility within three years.
