Full report
Vancouver police (VPD) announced Oct 9 that two alleged residential break-ins in South Vancouver on Thursday morning (Oct 8) are believed by Property Crime investigators to be linked.
At about 9:45 a.m., a man removed a window screen of a home near East 49th Ave and McKinnon St; the homeowner, who had just stepped out of the shower, confronted him, and he fled without stealing anything. About 30 minutes later, a man matching the same description broke a window and entered a residence near West 48th Ave and Ontario St, stole several items, then left.
With the VPD Canine Unit's assistance, officers located and arrested a man matching the description. Daryl Silas Hunt, 64, was charged with one count of attempted break and enter and one count of break and enter; he remains in custody pending a court appearance on Oct 15.
Investigators believe the suspect may be linked to additional break-ins in Vancouver and are asking anyone who experienced an unreported break-in to file a police report.
