Why it matters
Washington's midterm voting enters its early phase on Monday: seven full days, 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, and voters do not have to go to their own ward — any early vote center in the District will do. Residents who missed the regular registration deadline can still register and vote on the spot.
Full report
According to the D.C. Board of Elections schedule, early vote centers are open Monday, October 26 through Sunday, November 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily; voters may cast their ballot at any early vote center, regardless of their home ward. Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, with vote centers open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Residents who missed the regular registration deadline can still register in person at a vote center during early voting or on Election Day, with accepted proof of D.C. residence. Voters can also return ballots to mail-ballot drop boxes during early-voting hours or hand them in at a vote center.
The D.C. Attorney General's office has also reminded residents that federal officials may not send the military, the National Guard or federal law enforcement to monitor polling places, and that voters facing threats or intimidation should contact the Attorney General's office or the Board of Elections. Vote-center locations, sample ballots and ballot tracking are available at dcboe.org.
