Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority, with Dubai Holding Community Management, has started building two pedestrian bridges on Palm Jumeirah, near Shoreline at the island's entrance and beside the Golden Mile retail district, due in June and October 2027; together they will carry 2,700 people per hour, benefit about 16,000 residents, and cut vehicle waiting times at nearby junctions by up to 50%.

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced on October 29 that, in partnership with Dubai Holding Community Management, it has started building two pedestrian bridges on Palm Jumeirah, aiming to improve pedestrian safety and ease junction congestion.

Where the two bridges go, and when they open

One bridge sits near Shoreline at the entrance to Palm Jumeirah and is scheduled for completion in June 2027; the other stands beside the Golden Mile retail district and is due by October 2027. Each spans 40 metres and will be fitted with lifts for accessibility, including for senior citizens and People of Determination; together they will carry 2,700 pedestrians per hour.

About 16,000 residents to benefit; junction waits cut by up to half

The RTA says about 16,000 residents are expected to benefit, vehicle waiting times at nearby intersections should fall by up to 50%, and journey times will shorten as connectivity improves between the island's residential, commercial and tourism areas. The project forms part of a wider agreement signed by the RTA and Dubai Holding in March 2025 covering traffic improvements across 15 areas and developments.
