The Toronto Maple Leafs lost 3-2 to the Utah Mammoth at Scotiabank Arena on Tuesday night. Nick Schmaltz scored the winner on the power play at 13:12 of the third period, poking in a rebound after Sergei Bobrovsky stopped Clayton Keller's one-timer. It was Utah's second win over Toronto this season, after a 5-4 victory on October 13. The Maple Leafs fell to 8-7-2 and 1-3-0 in their past four games, in their first game at home after a 2-2-0 road trip. (Cover photo is a file photo of the Maple Leafs.)

How the game unfolded: Roslovic twice levelled, Schmaltz settled it

Dylan Guenther put Utah up 1-0 on the power play at 19:47 of the first period. Jack Roslovic tied it 1-1 at 10:20 of the second, finishing a pass from Auston Matthews after Matthews forced a turnover behind the net. Andrew Peeke restored Utah's lead at 13:42 of the second, and a Barrett Hayton goal at 17:20 was disallowed for goaltender interference. Roslovic tied it again at 9:05 of the third, skating in alone on a backhand deke, but Schmaltz converted the power play created by Darren Raddysh's cross-checking penalty at 11:42, burying the loose puck in the crease. Keller had three assists, Sebastian Cossa made 27 saves for Utah and Bobrovsky made 33 for Toronto.

Toronto's form: Roslovic's point streak reaches seven games

Roslovic's two goals extended his point streak to a career-high seven games (five goals, seven assists); Matthews' two assists extended his streak to five games (eight points; three goals, five assists). Toronto coach Jim Hiller said the team lacked its legs and energy early and only found its game in the second half. Bobrovsky remains tied with Henrik Lundqvist at No. 6 on the NHL all-time wins list with 459. Utah improved to 10-6-0 and leads the NHL with 20 power-play goals.
