· N GLOBE

NSW Police released CCTV images on the morning of Oct 17 as they investigate a series of alleged sexual offences against women on Narrabeen walking trails on Sydney's northern beaches; six reports were received between Oct 1 and 12, and Strike Force Mexvo is investigating whether the cases are linked, with extra patrols on the trails.

Why it matters

NSW Police released CCTV images on Saturday morning, October 17, of a male e-bike rider as they investigate a series of alleged sexual offences against women on walking trails at Narrabeen on Sydney's northern beaches. The man is described as Caucasian, believed to be aged under 25, about 175 centimetres tall and of medium build; police blurred his face as they are unsure whether he is under 18, and hope someone may recognise his e-bike or clothing.

The cases

Police received six reports of alleged sexual offences in the Narrabeen area between October 1 and 12. Investigations began after three incidents in two days, during which a man allegedly approached women on walking trails, sexually touched them and then rode away on an e-bike; in one incident he also made inappropriate sexual comments. Another woman reported being sexually touched at Narrabeen Lagoon at the start of the month by a man who then rode away on an e-bike; on October 12, two more women reported being sexually touched by a male on an e-bike as they walked along the lagoon near Bilarong Reserve. Strike Force Mexvo is investigating whether the incidents are linked.

Police appeal

Police have stepped up uniformed and plain-clothes patrols on the trails and urge anyone with information, mobile phone or dashcam footage to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. The investigation is ongoing; the man is currently a person who may be able to assist inquiries and has not been charged.
