The Toronto Raptors beat the Orlando Magic 129-99 at home on 28 October, with Scottie Barnes scoring a game-high 28 points and RJ Barrett adding 25, as Toronto improved to 3-1 without Kawhi Leonard.

The Toronto Raptors routed the visiting Orlando Magic 129-99 at Scotiabank Arena on 28 October, improving to 3-1 while Orlando fell to 1-3. Toronto trailed early but turned the game into a 30-point rout despite missing star Kawhi Leonard.

Barnes owns the third quarter

Scottie Barnes scored a game-high 28 points with six rebounds and four assists, bouncing back from a scoreless outing at Minnesota on Sunday when he missed all 12 of his field-goal attempts. He scored 16 points in the third quarter alone, including eight consecutive Toronto points, stretching the lead to 98-72. RJ Barrett added 25 points, nine rebounds and six assists, scoring 21 in the first half; Immanuel Quickley had 16, Ja'Kobe Walter — starting in Leonard's place — had 14, and Jamal Shead added 13 points and seven assists.

Winning without Leonard

Leonard will miss at least a week with swelling in his left knee and was not on the Raptors bench. Orlando was also short-handed: leading scorer Paolo Banchero (right ankle) and Jalen Suggs (right knee) were out, Tristan da Silva led the visitors with 20 points off the bench, and Franz Wagner scored 15 but committed seven turnovers and managed only four points in the second half. Toronto made 15 of 35 three-pointers to Orlando's 10 of 35. The teams meet again at the same arena on Friday in an NBA Cup game.
