Minister Rechie Valdez announced on Oct. 13 in Winnipeg a $30-million top-up for the Women Entrepreneurship Loan Fund, which provides microloans of up to $50,000 to women entrepreneurs through four not-for-profit organizations.

Why it matters

Women entrepreneurs have long faced barriers to accessing financing. This renewed funding keeps the Women Entrepreneurship Strategy's flagship lending tool running, channelling capital and mentoring directly to women-led startups and growing small businesses.
