Delhi Traffic Police's Northern Range team registered three cases after commercial vehicles were allegedly found using forged No Entry Permissions (NEPs) during an enforcement drive at the capital's border areas. The drive took place on October 27, while Stage I of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) remained in force across Delhi-NCR.
Three cases at border checkpoints
The operation was conducted on the directions of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Northern Range, Dr. Sachin Kumar Singhal. Teams intercepted commercial vehicles at Delhi's border checkpoints and scrutinised their No Entry Permissions for authenticity. Three vehicles were allegedly found carrying forged permits, and the operators and vehicles were handed over to local police for further legal proceedings.
The three cases
In the first case, vehicle DL1LAC3219, driven by Vikram, 38, was allegedly found using a forged NEP, and case 622/26 was registered under Section 318(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Alipur police station. In the second case, a Tata Ace bearing registration DL1LAQ4160, driven and owned by Santosh, was allegedly found using a forged NEP, and case 623/26 was registered at Alipur police station. In the third case, vehicle DL1LAG4982, driven by Gaurav Kumar, was allegedly found using a forged NEP, and case 916/26 was registered under Sections 318(2) and 340(2) at Samaypur Badli police station. Section 318(2) relates to cheating and Section 340(2) to forgery-related offences, according to the report.
Background: entry controls under GRAP Stage I
No Entry Permissions are official authorisations allowing commercial vehicles to enter restricted zones during specific hours. The Commission for Air Quality Management invoked GRAP Stage I from October 21, with restrictions on commercial vehicle movement among the key measures. The reports did not disclose the subsequent court proceedings for the three cases.
