The Hong Kong government has announced that passenger and vehicle clearance at the Shenzhen Bay Control Point will be extended by two hours, until 2 a.m., on October 30 and 31, to ease cross-boundary traffic over the Halloween weekend; franchised bus operators will run two special overnight routes, NB2 and NB3.

HONG KONG — The Hong Kong government has announced that passenger and vehicle clearance services at the Shenzhen Bay Control Point will be extended by two hours, until 2 a.m., on October 30 and 31. The arrangement follows a consensus reached with Shenzhen authorities and aims to handle an expected surge in visitor arrivals and late-night cross-boundary trips over the Halloween weekend, which coincides with major local events including the Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival and mega concerts.

The busiest window: northbound at Huanggang, 11 p.m. to 2 a.m.

The government expects the busiest period for northbound traffic at Huanggang Port to run from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m., warning of heavy congestion around the port area and San Tin Highway. Extending hours at Shenzhen Bay is meant to divert that late-night flow. Clearance arrangements at Huanggang Port remain unchanged.

Two overnight bus routes to Yuen Long, Tin Shui Wai and Tuen Mun

To match the extended hours, franchised bus operators have coordinated with the government to run two special overnight routes: NB2 connecting the Shenzhen Bay Control Point with Yuen Long and Tin Shui Wai, and NB3 connecting it with Tuen Mun. Travellers are advised to check real-time updates — including average waiting times for passengers and private cars — via the Security Bureau's "Easy Boundary" platform or the Transport Department's "HKeMobility" app before travelling.
